The Festool 498686 is a pack of 36 solid beech DOMINO tenon sticks, 8 mm thick and 750 mm (29-1/2 inch) long, for the Festool DOMINO DF 500 and DOMINO XL DF 700 joiners. Instead of buying a fixed tenon length, you cut each tenon to suit the joint, which is useful for deep mortises, odd stock thicknesses and one-off joints. The 8 mm size is one of the most used DOMINO sizes for cabinet and furniture work.

Cutting Tenons to Length

Cut mortises with the matching 8 mm DOMINO cutter, add the depth of both mortises, and cut each tenon 2-3 mm shorter than that total to leave room for glue. A simple stop block on a crosscut sled or miter saw keeps a batch of tenons the same length. Ease the cut ends lightly so they enter the mortise cleanly.
