Mirka Abrasives & Dust-Free Sanding Tools — Canadian Supplier

Mirka logo

Finnish-engineered dust-free sanding, stocked in Calgary, shipped across Canada.

Mirka has made abrasives in Finland since 1943 and changed the industry in 2001 with Abranet® — the net-backed abrasive that pulls dust through the disc instead of loading it. Today Mirka is the reference brand for dust-free sanding: net and paper abrasives, the DEROS® and PROS® random-orbital sanders, LEROS® wall sanders, matched dust extractors, and Polarshine® polishing compounds. IBEX Enterprises is building out its Mirka range now — if you run Mirka abrasives or tools in your shop, tell us what you use and we’ll stock it.

Why body shops, cabinet makers, and finishers choose Mirka

Dust-free sanding that actually stays dust-free. Abranet’s open net construction has thousands of extraction holes instead of a handful, so the disc doesn’t clog on primer, sealer, filler, or soft finishes. Discs last longer, the scratch pattern stays consistent, and the booth and shop floor stay cleaner — fewer re-dos and less rework between coats.

Lightweight, low-profile tools built for long shifts. The DEROS electric random-orbital sander runs at full power from a standard outlet with no compressor, and its low-profile brushless design cuts operator fatigue on production sanding. PROS is the pneumatic option for shops already piped for air; LEROS handles walls and ceilings at 3.5 kg with a 180° pivoting head.

A complete system, not just a disc. Abrasive, backing pad, interface, sander, and extractor are designed to work together. Matching them stops the guesswork that comes with mixing brands — correct hole patterns, correct suction, correct pad hardness for the job.

What we can supply for Mirka

Mirka product listings are being added to the catalog now. Everything below is available to order through IBEX — call for current stock and lead time.

Net abrasives (Abranet®, Abranet® Ace, Abranet® Max)

Net-backed discs, sheets, and belts for dust-free sanding on wood, primer, filler, paint, and composites. Abranet Ace adds ceramic grain for faster cut on hard coatings and harder woods.

Paper and film abrasives (Mirka Gold, Iridium®)

Conventional hook-and-loop discs and sheets for general woodworking and automotive sanding where a paper backing is preferred.

Foam and non-woven finishing (Abralon®, Mirlon®)

Foam-backed and non-woven pads for fine finishing, denibbing, and scuffing before topcoat or between clear coats.

Sanders

DEROS electric random-orbital sanders (5" and 6"), DEOS orbital sanders, PROS pneumatic sanders, and LEROS long-reach wall and ceiling sanders.

Dust extractors and accessories

Mirka dust extractors, hoses, backing pads, interface pads, and hand-sanding blocks that complete the dust-free setup.

Polishing (Polarshine®)

Polarshine polishing compounds and matched foam and wool pads for paint correction and final gloss.

Choosing the right Mirka abrasive

  • Primer, filler, sealer, soft finishes: Abranet — the net backing keeps loading to a minimum
  • Hard coatings, hardwoods, faster stock removal: Abranet Ace (ceramic grain)
  • Belt sanding, edge sanding: Abranet Max belts
  • General sanding where paper backing is preferred: Mirka Gold or Iridium
  • Denibbing, scuffing, between-coat finishing: Abralon or Mirlon
  • Final polish and gloss: Polarshine compounds with matching pads

Common Mirka buyer questions

Will Abranet fit my Festool, Dynabrade, or other 5" and 6" sander?

Yes. Abranet’s net backing works with any hook-and-loop pad regardless of hole pattern — the whole surface is an extraction hole. For best results and to protect your backing pad, use it with a Mirka interface/protection pad. Tell us your sander make and model and we’ll confirm the right pad.

Do I need a Mirka sander to use Mirka abrasives?

No. Mirka abrasives are made in standard 5", 6", and sheet sizes and run on the sanders you already own. Pairing them with a DEROS or PROS and a Mirka extractor gives the best dust-free performance, but it isn’t required.

What if you don’t have a grit or size on the shelf?

We’ll source it through Mirka’s Canadian distribution — call and we’ll confirm current availability and lead time. Shops with a standing grit sequence can set up a recurring order so it’s always on the shelf when you need it.
