The Festool 493298 is a pack of 780 solid beech DOMINO tenons, size 8 x 22 x 40 mm, made as loose (floating) tenons for the Festool DOMINO DF 500 joiner. Each tenon fits a mortise cut by the matching 8 mm DOMINO cutter, giving a strong, self-aligning glue joint for furniture, cabinetry and frame work. The bulk 780-count box suits production shops and cabinet lines that use this size every day.

Where This Size Fits

This is a general cabinet and furniture size, used for face frames, carcass joints, chair and table rails, doors and panel alignment on stock of typical cabinet thickness. Set the DOMINO depth so the two mortises together are slightly deeper than the tenon is long, and match the cutter diameter to the 8 mm tenon thickness. The tenons work in both solid wood and plywood.

Tips for Clean Joints

Dry-fit the first joint of a job before you glue. Put glue in the mortise walls rather than only on the tenon, then close and clamp the joint promptly. Keep the box closed and store tenons in a dry place so they do not take on moisture and swell, which makes them hard to seat.
