The Lamello 144020 is a box of 1,000 of Lamello No. 20 wood joining biscuits, made from solid beech and FSC certified (C120728). No. 20 biscuits measure 56 x 23 x 4 mm (about 2-3/16 x 7/8 inch) and are sized for the largest standard joints: panel glue-ups, carcass corners, surface joints and ceiling or wall panels.

How Biscuit Joints Work

A biscuit joiner cuts a matching half-moon groove in each part. Glue goes into the grooves, the biscuit is pressed in, and the parts are brought together. The compressed beech takes up moisture from the glue and swells, so the biscuit locks tight in the groove and keeps the faces aligned while the glue cures. Biscuits are an alignment and strengthening aid for glued joints; they are not a knock-down fitting.

Apply glue to the groove walls, not only the biscuit, and assemble without long delays, because the biscuits start to swell once they meet the glue. Store the Lamello 144020 sealed in a dry place, since biscuits that pick up humidity before use swell less and fit loosely.
