Sia 2925.2-1/2×14.100 sialoX 2-1/2 x 14 Inch Belt, 100 Grit

The Sia 2925.2-1/2×14.100 is a Sia 2925 sialoX cloth sanding belt, 2-1/2 x 14 inch (63.5 x 356 mm), in 100 grit. This medium-fine grade is used for smoothing and blending flaws, light deburring and preparing surfaces for finishing. It is an aluminum oxide belt on a sturdy cloth backing and is sold individually.

Where It Fits

Fit it to any belt sander or belt grinder that takes a 2-1/2 x 14 inch belt. Check the direction arrow on the inside of the belt and match it to the machine before you run it. Follow with 120 grit, or a finer grit, for the final pass. Sia lists 2925 sialoX for dry use only, so do not run it wet.

Who Uses It

Sia developed 2925 sialoX for general fabrication. Sia lists it for non-ferrous metals and for unalloyed and low-alloy steel. Fabrication shops, welders and maintenance crews use it for deburring cut parts, weld prep, blending, rust and discolouration removal and final sanding before paint.

Tips for Best Results

Let the belt reach full speed before you touch the work, and use moderate, steady pressure. Keep the part moving across the belt so heat does not build up in one spot. Use separate belts for steel and aluminum so the belt does not carry steel particles onto aluminum. Replace the belt when it glazes or the cut slows. Store belts hanging or loosely coiled in a dry place, away from heat and damp.
