The Sia 2925.2-1/2×14.120 is a Sia 2925 sialoX cloth sanding belt, 2-1/2 x 14 inch (63.5 x 356 mm), in 120 grit. This fine grade is used for smoothing and blending flaws, structuring and final sanding. It is an aluminum oxide belt on a sturdy cloth backing and is sold individually.

Where It Fits

Fit it to any belt sander or belt grinder that takes a 2-1/2 x 14 inch belt. Check the direction arrow on the inside of the belt and match it to the machine before you run it. 120 is the finest grit of this size in the IBEX range; work up to it from 80 or 100. Sia lists 2925 sialoX for dry use only, so do not run it wet.

Who Uses It

Sia developed 2925 sialoX for general fabrication. Sia lists it for non-ferrous metals and for unalloyed and low-alloy steel. Fabrication shops, welders and maintenance crews use it for deburring cut parts, weld prep, blending, rust and discolouration removal and final sanding before paint.

Tips for Best Results

Let the belt reach full speed before you touch the work, and use moderate, steady pressure. Keep the part moving across the belt so heat does not build up in one spot. Use separate belts for steel and aluminum so the belt does not carry steel particles onto aluminum. Replace the belt when it glazes or the cut slows. Store belts hanging or loosely coiled in a dry place, away from heat and damp.
