Sia 6783.7705.0040 Siaspeed 1950 5 Inch Disc, 40 Grit
The Sia 6783.7705.0040 is a 5 inch Siaspeed 1950 hook and loop sanding disc in 40 grit, sold 50 discs per box. Siaspeed 1950 is sia Abrasives’ all-round line for lacquer, hard and soft wood, primer filler, body filler, solid surface material and plastics. This 40 grit disc is suited to heavy stock removal: stripping old paint and varnish, taking down rough or uneven surfaces and cleaning up badly weathered wood.

Where 40 Grit Fits
40 is the starting point when the surface is rough or heavily coated. It cuts fast and leaves deep scratches, so plan to follow with 60 or 80 before moving into the finer grits. Do not skip more than one grit at a time. Each step should fully remove the scratches from the step before, or they will show through the finish later.
Who Uses It
Automotive refinishers, cabinet and furniture shops, millwork shops and solid surface fabricators use the Sia 6783.7705.0040 on 5 inch random orbital sanders. It fits any 5 inch hook and loop pad. Because this disc has no holes, it suits sanders without through-pad extraction, or jobs where you want the full abrasive face in contact.
Tips for Better Results
Let the coarse grit do the work. Heavy pressure slows the sander and builds heat, which can glaze the disc and burn wood. Keep the pad flat, keep the sander moving and check the surface often so you do not remove more than you need. Change the disc when it stops cutting rather than pushing harder. Store boxes flat and dry so the backing stays flat on the pad.
