VSM 113462 5 Inch Surface Conditioning Disc, Fine Grade

The VSM 113462 is a 5 inch fine grade surface conditioning disc with a hook and loop back, sold 10 discs per pack. It is made from a non-woven nylon web filled with aluminum oxide abrasive, for cleaning, blending and light deburring on metal, composites and plastics.

How It Works

The open web resists loading and runs cool, which lowers the risk of discoloring the workpiece and extends disc life. The flexible web conforms to irregular surfaces, so it blends evenly over welds, edges and curved parts instead of cutting flat spots like a coated disc. Use fine as the last step after coarse or medium, or alone for cleaning parts and prepping surfaces before paint or adhesive.

Tips for Best Results

Keep the disc moving and use light to moderate pressure; pushing hard wears the web quickly and can glaze the surface. Work at a shallow angle so the face of the disc does the work. Make sure the hook and loop pad is clean and in good shape, since a worn pad lets the disc slip or fly off. Wear eye and hand protection, and keep a spare disc on hand so you can swap as soon as the web wears thin.
