The Festool 203348 is a two-pack of IP-STF D150/MJ2-5/2 soft foam interface pads that fit between a 6 inch (150 mm) sander pad and the abrasive. The foam lets the disc flex to follow curves, profiles and delicate surfaces, which lowers the risk of sanding through at edges and gouging contoured work.

How It Works

The Festool 203348 presses onto the StickFix face of the sanding pad, and the MJ2 abrasive presses onto the interface pad. The thin foam layer spreads pressure over a curved surface, so the disc keeps contact with the work instead of cutting only at its high points.

Who Uses It

Cabinet and furniture shops, millwork finishers, auto body and marine refinishers use 6 inch interface pads on mouldings, curved panels, rounded edges and profiled doors. Painters also use them for scuffing primer and sealer on shaped parts, where a hard pad would cut through the coating.

Tips for Best Results

Line up the holes of the interface pad with the sander pad so extraction stays strong. An interface pad softens the cut, so it works best with medium and fine grits for finishing rather than heavy stock removal. Keep pressure light so the foam is not crushed flat, and replace the interface pad when its hook face stops holding discs firmly or the foam starts to tear.
