Description

The Festool 493492 is an 8 mm carbide-tipped DOMINO cutter (model D 8-NL 28 HW) for the Festool DF 500 DOMINO joiner. It routs the exact mortise that accepts 8 mm DOMINO tenons, so loose-tenon joints pull together tight, square and repeatable every time.

Cutting 8 mm wide by 28 mm deep, it’s the workhorse size for general cabinet and furniture joinery — carcases, face frames, table aprons, door rails and shelving. Spiral flutes clear chips for a clean, low-tear-out mortise, and the internally threaded shank changes over quickly on the DF 500 spindle. The tungsten-carbide edges hold up through long production runs and dense hardwoods that dull plain steel fast — Festool rates the carbide for roughly 5,000–14,000 joints depending on material.
