Description

The Festool 493490 is a 5 mm carbide-tipped DOMINO cutter (model D 5-NL 20 HW) for the Festool DF 500 DOMINO joiner. It routs the exact mortise that accepts 5 mm DOMINO tenons — the smallest cutter in the DF 500 range, for the thinnest stock and most delicate joints.

Cutting 5 mm wide by 20 mm deep, it’s the size for small-scale work: thin panels, light face frames, small boxes, drawer fronts and frame-and-panel doors in slender material. Spiral flutes clear chips for a clean, low-tear-out mortise; the internally threaded shank changes over quickly on the DF 500. Tungsten-carbide edges hold an edge through long runs and dense hardwood (rated roughly 5,000–14,000 joints depending on material).
