VSM 129819 Flap Wheel, 2 x 1 x 1/4 Inch, 40 Grit

The VSM 129819 is a 2 x 1 x 1/4 inch flap wheel with 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive, sold individually. Layered abrasive flaps give a consistent, coarse cut for deburring, blending, cleaning and surface preparation.

How It Works

As the flaps wear, fresh abrasive is exposed, so the wheel keeps cutting at a steady rate through its life. The flaps flex to follow edges, holes and curved surfaces, which makes a flap wheel a good fit for blending and deburring work that a rigid wheel would gouge.

Metal fabricators, welders and maintenance crews use the VSM 129819 where a 3 inch wheel is too large: inside tubes and brackets, along weld seams and around holes and slots.

Tips for Best Results

Run the wheel at or below the speed rating of the tool and the wheel, and let it reach speed before it touches the work. Use light pressure and keep the wheel moving to avoid flat spots and heat. Follow 40 grit with a finer grit when you need a smoother finish. Wear eye and face protection, and replace the wheel when the flaps wear down near the core. Check the shank or mount for bends before each use, since an out-of-true wheel vibrates and wears unevenly.
