The Festool 202459 is the ST-STF D150/MJ2-M8-SW FUSION-TEC, an ultra-soft 6 inch (150 mm) sanding pad for curves and beading. Its elastic structure lets the abrasive wrap over heavy roundings and cambers instead of cutting only the high spots.

Where It Fits

Use the Festool 202459 when a soft pad is still too firm for the shape: rounded edges, coves, beading, chair parts and curved panels. On flat panels the ultra-soft pad can round over edges, so switch back to a soft or hard pad for flat work.

Who Uses It

Furniture makers, boat builders, auto and marine refinishers and millwork shops use an ultra-soft pad for shaped and curved parts. It is also useful for scuffing primer and paint on contoured surfaces where cutting through the coating is the main risk.

Tips for Long Pad Life

Keep pressure light: the elastic foam does the conforming, and pushing hard only crushes it and heats the hook face. Check the hook and loop face before each job. When the StickFix hooks wear down, discs start to shift or fly off and the scratch pattern suffers. Brush dust off the pad, store it flat and away from heat, and never run the sander without an abrasive fitted, because the hook face wears quickly against the work. Festool also advises that pad foam becomes brittle with age, so check the foam for wear before use.
