The Dynabrade 56104 is a 5 inch (127 mm) vacuum disc pad with a vinyl face for pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) discs. It fits random orbital sanders with a 5/16-24 spindle. The vacuum design lets a connected extraction system pull dust away from the work for a cleaner shop.

Fitting the Pad

Thread the pad onto a sander with a 5/16-24 spindle and snug it by hand. Check that it runs true before you start. Use it with 5 inch PSA discs. Clean the vinyl face before each new disc, then press the disc on centered and smooth it flat from the middle out so no air is trapped. Match the disc holes to the pad when you want full extraction. Always confirm the pad’s speed rating is at or above the sander’s free speed.

Replacement disc pads are a routine part of keeping random orbital sanders running in auto body shops, cabinet and furniture shops, and metal and composite finishing. A fresh pad restores flat contact with the disc, which gives a more even scratch pattern and better finish.

Care and Replacement

Do not run the sander without a disc on the pad, since the face can be damaged. Keep pressure light so heat does not build up in the urethane. Replace the pad when the vinyl face is torn, burned or uneven, or when discs no longer stay flat. Store spare pads flat and away from heat.
