The Festool 497868 is an 8 mm carbide-tipped DOMINO cutter (bit) with a 50 mm cutting length, made for the Festool DOMINO XL DF 700 joiner. It plunges deep, precisely sized mortises that accept 8 mm DOMINO tenons, giving the XL machine its long, high-strength loose-tenon joints.

The deep 50 mm cut sets the DF 700 apart from the DF 500, suiting doors, large tables, beds and structural joinery. Spiral flutes clear chips cleanly, and the internally threaded shank changes over quickly without tools. The carbide tip stays sharp across thousands of mortises.
