The Festool 491582 is the FS-RSP KickbackStop, a small stop that clamps onto an FS/2 guide rail. It reduces kickback and lifting of the saw, which lowers the risk of injury or damage to the workpiece, and it doubles as a front or rear stop for repeatable plunge cuts.

How It Is Used

Set it behind the saw as a kickback stop when you plunge into the middle of a panel, so the saw cannot be pushed back toward you. Set it at the end of the cut as a limit stop to stop the saw at the same point every time. Two stops on one rail define both ends of a cut-out.

Typical Jobs

Main uses are plunge cuts in various materials, accurate recesses such as sink and cooktop cut-outs in countertops, and repeated plunge cuts of the same length in cabinet parts and panels.

Tips

Mark both ends of the cut on the rail, set the stops, and make a test plunge in scrap. Keep the stop clean and check it is tight before each cut. Keep both hands on the saw and let the blade reach full speed before plunging.
