Where It Fits

The rectangular pad sands right into corners and along edges, so the RTS 400 is the sander for window and door frames, face frames, rails and stiles, shelf edges and narrow panels. Use the dust bag for quick jobs, or connect the 27 mm port to a Festool CT dust extractor for near dust-free sanding in finished spaces.

Cabinet makers, furniture finishers, painters and renovators use it for detail and edge work after the main surfaces are done with a larger sander.

Getting the Best Finish

Keep the pad flat and pressure light, and let the sander do the work. Step through the grits one at a time without skipping more than one grade, and vacuum the surface between grits so loose grit from a coarser step does not scratch the finer one. Change the abrasive as soon as it stops cutting cleanly. A worn disc only polishes the surface and builds heat.
