Why shops choose air sanders
Air (pneumatic) sanders have no motor inside, so they are lighter and smaller than electric sanders of the same pad size and they run cool over a long shift. That is why autobody, boat, composite and production finishing shops use them all day.
What you need
- A compressor and air line that can supply the sander's rated air flow at its rated pressure (check the tool's spec sheet).
- Clean, dry, oiled air. A filter, regulator and lubricator at the drop keeps the motor healthy.
- The right pad and abrasive: hook-face pads take hook and loop discs; the Dynabug II takes 75 x 110 mm sander sheets.
Vacuum models
Dynabrade vacuum sanders (the "V" models) pull dust through the pad into a central vacuum or hose, which keeps the work and the air cleaner.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy a Dynabrade air sander in Calgary?
At IBEX Enterprises, Unit 208, 2835 23 St NE, Calgary. Local pickup is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, and we also ship across Canada from Calgary.
Are air sanders better than electric sanders?
Neither is better for every shop. Air sanders are lighter and handle long production shifts; electric sanders need no compressor and pair easily with a dust extractor. If you already run shop air, an air sander is often the lighter choice.
Do you sell replacement pads for Dynabrade sanders?
Yes. Dynabrade 5-inch and 6-inch hook-face and PSA pads, vacuum and non-vacuum, are under Sanding and Interface Pads.
