Which grinding abrasive?
- Fibre discs – fast cutting for heavy grinding and weld removal on an angle grinder with a backing pad. Ceramic grain stays sharp on steel and stainless.
- Flap discs – grind and blend in one step and leave a smoother finish than a grinding wheel. Flap wheels on a die grinder reach inside tubes and corners.
- Surface conditioning and strip discs – non-woven discs that clean, remove paint and rust, and blend without gouging.

Flap disc or grinding wheel: which should I use?
A flap disc removes weld and blends in one step and leaves a finer finish, with less gouging. A bonded grinding wheel is for very heavy removal. For most fabrication blending, a 40 or 60 grit ceramic flap disc is a good start.
